Nautilus Bonnet

I've been pondering a series of little portraits of women from various time periods with nautical accessories....

Here is the initial sketch of a Regency-era lady with a nautilus shell for a bonnet. Conjured up while classes were cancelled and I was stuck indoors due to a crazy spring blizzard.

The finished product. India ink for line work, and mix of watercolor and marker for colors. However, after talking about it with a frien, I'm pondering changing the background to a warmer color.

Knitting Fairy

A quick little watercolor done on a whim of my chubby knitting fairy and her cat companion. I'm pondering giving this, or perhaps a more involved version of this, to my grandparents as a gift. They payed a good chunk of my student loans off as a graduation gift, and I feel a gift of my artwork is the least I could do to thank them!
