This is about as Valentine-y as I'll get art wise. To much pink is bad for my well being. XD To be honest, I associate this time of year with VDay, a time to watch The Vagina Monologues and raise awareness about violence towards women and girls. Enjoy time with loved ones, but have a bit of social awareness, too. :)

We are at 150 followers for "The Class" on Facebook and Twitter, so now I can share this with you guys!

This is Elliot Brand, who is the big brother of Erika (you first saw her here) You may recognize him as the blond fighting in this illustration. In case you haven't figured it out, his power is to control fire. :)

Sorry for the radio silence, I've been working on a comic project that will be premiering soon here!

I can finally show a little bit of the art for it, so I thought I'd post one of the promo images in progress. I kind of like the image with just the flats because it reminds me a bit of pulpy retro comics. However, the flames definitely look better in the finished product.

I've been seeing a few artist "inking" with very clean pencil lines, so I thought I'd give it a try over a Marni doodle. (Though the anatomy is not the best on this) Here it is with some color flats over it.

Crossword Puzzle

An inked doodle from when I was sitting at my table at Animeland Wasabi.

I know that Marni and Edward's universe is Victorian-esque, and I don't think crossword puzzles were around in that time. However, I love doing them and was yearning for one but could not get ahold of a paper....so I drew Edward doing one instead. I fiddled with how I drew his hair on this, though the difference is probably not noticeable to anyone but me. :)

Moleskines

I was at Animeland Wasabi this past weekend, and did a ton of custom covers on small Moleskine notebooks. Here are just a few of the ones I was able to document before they were sold. :3

I used a combination of ink, acrylic, and marker to color these.

This one was my personal favorite! My version of baby Edward. It was snatched up immediately and I got a commission to do a similar one. These were lots of fun, and I'll probably be doing some again.

A tiny painting as a going away present for my good friend Erika, who joined the Peace Corp and is off for Morocco for two years! She is one of the original, and one of the biggest fans, of Edward. I will miss her greatly, but I'm glad she has Edward to keep her company on her adventures. :)

I Kill Giants

Apologies for the bad photo...I absent-mindedly gave the finished product to my friend before making a copy for myself. Instead, you will have to make do with the sketch! My friend gave me a copy of the fabulous graphic novel "I Kill Giants" by Joe Kelly and J.M. Kim Nimura, and which definitely had me choked up near the end. These are the two main characters, who I sketched seconds after putting the comic down. I decided to give the finished copy to my friend as a thank you. :)

Brother and Sister

I've always known that Marni has an older sister and brother, but not exactly how they look. I decided I finally needed to get them down on paper. They are quite a bit older than Marni...she was a bit of an "oops" baby, though that doesn't really play into the story.

Here is a mini-portrait of Portia, the eldest of the siblings. She and Marni share the same hair, but as you can see Portia's is more well-kept. She's more prim and proper overall, really.

Apologies for the absence again, I need to get myself a scanner. Was able to scan a bunch while visiting the lovely Nami to work on stuff for Wasabi Con.

Getting the ball rolling again with lineart of a drawing I did for my friend Erin. This is Kiyoshi and Danni, two characters from a novel she's working on. Apparently Kiyoshi has a tendency to say awkward things, so Danni is keeping him from ruining a romantic moment.

I've been accumulating small scraps of watercolor paper while working on some bigger projects, and decided not to waste them by doodling different outfits for Marni. I've been writing a lot for her and Edward, and hopefully will have a great story to show you guys someday soon. :)

I found some old gouache that had gone a bit...chunky. Decided to put to use what little bit was still usable while I was recovering from my wisdom teeth being yanked, and whipped this up. I was having fun playing with flat colors. :)

Nautilus Bonnet

I've been pondering a series of little portraits of women from various time periods with nautical accessories....

Here is the initial sketch of a Regency-era lady with a nautilus shell for a bonnet. Conjured up while classes were cancelled and I was stuck indoors due to a crazy spring blizzard.

The finished product. India ink for line work, and mix of watercolor and marker for colors. However, after talking about it with a frien, I'm pondering changing the background to a warmer color.

Knitting Fairy

A quick little watercolor done on a whim of my chubby knitting fairy and her cat companion. I'm pondering giving this, or perhaps a more involved version of this, to my grandparents as a gift. They payed a good chunk of my student loans off as a graduation gift, and I feel a gift of my artwork is the least I could do to thank them!
